CID Counsel Associate (3+ Years) | HOA / Community Association Focus

Schedule: In-office for first 90 days, then hybrid (3 days in / 2 remote)
Overview
A well-regarded law firm in North County San Diego is seeking a CID Counsel Associate with 3+ years of experience to support its growing community association (HOA) and business practice.
This role is primarily focused on advising common interest developments (HOAs) on governance, operations, and related legal matters. While there may be occasional exposure to dispute resolution, this is not a litigation-heavy position. Candidates with experience working with HOAs, boards, or governance matters are strongly preferred.
This opportunity is ideal for an attorney who enjoys working directly with clients, providing practical guidance, and taking ownership of their work within a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise HOA boards and clients on governance, compliance, and operational matters
- Interpret and apply governing documents (CC&Rs, bylaws, rules)
- Provide day-to-day counsel on corporate and business-related issues
- Support clients with risk management and best practices
- Collaborate with partners on strategy and client guidance
- Handle occasional dispute-related matters as needed (not a primary focus)
Qualifications
- 3+ years of legal experience (transactional, advisory, or related practice areas)
- Experience with common interest developments (HOAs) strongly preferred
- Litigation experience is helpful but not required
- Strong writing, communication, and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and manage client relationships
- Comfortable in a client-facing advisory role
Compensation & Structure
- Salary: $145,000 - $200,000 (DOE)
- Billables:
- Baseline requirement for hybrid eligibility begins at 125 hours/month
- Expected monthly productivity is higher, aligned with a thriving, client-focused practice
